What is placenta encapsulation?

The placenta is your body’s temporary organ that delivers nutrients and oxygen to the baby during the pregnancy, and it also removes waste for the baby.

Many websites report that placenta encapsulation improves your milk supply, improves your mood, decreases your chance of postpartum depression or baby blues, and also, maybe, even increases your iron supply.

Placenta encapsulation involves processing the placenta after birth and turning it into capsules that can be taken as a supplement.

Contraindications - If you have HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, or signs of infection during labor, I cannot process your placenta.

Placenta Encapsulation

I use the traditional Chinese method of encapsulation. The placenta is first rinsed, then steamed with lemon and ginger. The placenta is then sliced and dehydrated. After 24 hours the dried placenta is grounded into a fine powder, then filled into vegetarian capsules to ingest. This process takes place over two days in your own home.

Placenta encapsulation is the process where I take your placenta and turn it into easy to swallow capsules, using the Traditional Chinese Method. It is a two day process (a little over an hour each day).

The first day, I will steam, slice, and leave your placenta dehydrating at your house overnight.

The second day I will finish encapsulation (using vegetarian capsules), and leave you with a thoroughly cleaned and sanitized space, a jar of placenta capsules with instructions, and a cord keepsake for you.

Each placenta makes approximately 60-120 capsules.
